The house
A country house above Newlyn, kept for seven parties at a time
Higher Faugan Parc was built in 1904 for the painter Stanhope Forbes, at the height of the Newlyn School. It stands in its own grounds on Chywoone Hill, above the harbour, with Mount's Bay laid out below it.
There is no bar, no lounge, no restaurant and no queue at breakfast. There are seven suites and rooms, a large lawn, a pond, and a great deal of quiet.

1904
Built for a painter, and it still shows
Stanhope Forbes and Elizabeth Forbes made their home and their school here. The house was designed around light: tall windows, deep sills, rooms that turn toward the bay.
