From Penzance — ferry or helicopter
Isles of Scilly
Twenty-eight miles out into the Atlantic, and worth a whole day of your stay.
The Scillonian sails from Penzance quay to St Mary's, and helicopters run from Penzance heliport to St Mary's and Tresco. Both leave early, which is one good argument for staying five minutes away in Newlyn the night before.
A day trip is possible; two nights is better.
